The secret friend trauma

Hi guys! Well, everyone knows that Christmas it’s coming and with Santa Claus also appear the typical “secret friend”. I started  playing  this game with my school’s friends and until today we do. It has always hard to me find the perfect gift because I like to give things away that can mean something important in people’s live, not material objects that can throw; That’s why I don’t make many gifts, only people important to me.

Nevertheless, although I don´t like play this game always we do. I remember one year we played with my friends in fifth grade and one friend give to me a christmas card  that when I opened it a music sounded and little dancer danced. I started laughing at the beginning and I loved the card, but the music was terrifying  and many times  in the night while I slept, the music sounded and I scared me a lot. In the end the batteries ran out and never again this music ran again.    

I love Christmas and new year are dates with so much happiness and it doesn’t matter if the people believes in Jesus or Goth, the important is being in family and eat rich food. But we can’t forget that there are people who have no one to celebrate and nothing to what celebrate.  

Classics Communication

In this semester I loved the signature Classics Communication with Claudio Salinas. Because it’s a class where we analyze the mass communication and the media manipulation. For me, this is very interesting because we live in a society where people with power use  the media to guide the public opinion and win money and more power.

The objective of this class it’s deconstruct the habitual practice of media manipulation and create a critic culture regarding this. Actually the media are handled principally for businessmen groups with political relations and not by communicators. This it’s something regular and people don’t know what they hear, see and read in the news is manipulated information. This analysis it’s very interesting for me, because the information and media communication naturalized speeches and ideologies that intensify the inequality of the economic system what put one social class over the other.

In the past semester I took with Claudio Salinas, but another class, Interpersonal Communication and enjoyed because is a great teacher

The best investigative journalist

Leila Guerriero it’s an argentinean journalist and writer. Her works has been in different newspaper such as La Nación, The Rolling Stone, Gatopardo and Vanity Fair. In 2010 won the prize of the new American journalism foundation in the best text category with her book “El rastro de los huesos”, where she relates the work done by the Argentinean team of forensic anthropology, team that identifies the remains of disappeared in the military dictatorship.

For me, Leila Guerriero is a referent of the investigative journalism. She is one of the few journalists who work to reveal the big problems in the society without falling into the manipulation and blackmail of economic groups. She is the faithful representative of investigative journalism

The books that I like the most about her are: “The suicides of the end of the world” and “American plan”. Both mix a rigorous research work and brilliant writing.

Don't look back in anger

Whenever they ask me what style of music I like, I don’t know what to say because there are so many genres of music that I listen to. But if I’m sure of something its wich my favorite song, this is don’t look back in anger of Oasis. This song it’s part of my life.

Don’t look back in anger have a special meaning for me, the lyric of this song reflect what my life mantra is: let it go.  This means you have let go all of the bad, the pain, angry, everything that hurts.

The main reason why this song means so much for me, it’s because I’m very attached to people, I have a hard time let it go even when those people hurt me and Don’t look back in anger it’s the opposite. Represent the way of life that I want, without sticking to people and finally it’s a way to be free.

Oasis have many songs that are important to me, like Let it be love, Don’t go away, Stop crying your heart and stand by me. 

Warm Photograph 

This photograph it’s the James Nachtwey, he took in the war but I don’t know where specific, maybe it’s in Vietnam because he spend a long time in this place. I love this picture because represent all the pain and suffering of the war. This photographer said that he have been a witness, and the pictures are his testimony. For me, the warm photograph capture the events that not be forgotten and repeated.

James Nachtwey has been in more of sixteen countries in war and his photographys represent so many things 

"Frida"

Frida it’s my favorite movie ever, not only because it’s inspired in the life of Frida Kahlo, but also because captures the essence this great woman. So, the best scene of the cinema for me is when Diego Rivera told Frida that he loves her with his life but he can’t be faithful. She told him that she accept this but only if him be loyal with her

This scene it’s perfect to me, because it’s so simple and beautiful at the same time. Represent in a few seconds their loves story and more than this, represent a deep friendship. Captures the essence of these two great persons and create a magic moment.

This movie has brilliant actors, especially Salma Hayek who gives life a Frida. Also, has a very clean and pretty photography and esthetic. Despite being a sad or dramatic story, get represent the artist’s strength and how with her big heart and fight could make of her life a work of art. 

Me and my mobile

Its the most popular piece of technology and its boring talk about this but I dont know what it would do whitout my mobilephone, I love it. I know that isn't okay but I spend old day chatting, check over Instagram, Facebook or Snapchat, I always found something to do. In this year I've been without my phone twice. The firts time I spend two weeks and I wanted to die but the second time it was less traumatic, even i liked spending time without connecting. However, my addiction return with my mobile and now I can't keep away.

For journalism a phone its an element very important because it connects us with the world and information quickly. Besides the functions of the mobile phone help us to record, take pictures, read and write the news in the moment that happends, and many other importants things. But not every is so wonderfull and spectacular, the battery of my mobile always died quickly, maybe its because I used old the time.

Although I love my phone, I would like not being so dependent on and put away for a little.

Journalism, the love of my life

You guys maybe don´t believe me, but journalism was my second choice. I wanted to study Law but I didn’t get enough points in the PSU. But the truth I’m happy for that, now I feel in love whit journalism. I can´t look at it as a work and sometimes I´m afraid because in any time can end.

I love my career because you can do a lot of things being journalist and you are not all the time in the office. I like so many things, that something I think I won't have enough time to do every single thing. For example I like the warm photography and the investigative journalism... I wish to write a book of a big case like Leila Guerriero. 

Who am I?

Hi! My name is Valentina Rey and I’m twenty years old. I was born in Santiago de Chile and i have never lived in other place. Despite the noice, the annoying people and the pulled air, i love this city because it has really cool places, one of my favorites it’s the neightborhood “Lastarria”, it’s beautiful and have many things to shop, eat and see. In the night the lights in the threes turn up for all the streets, it’s an amazing view. Also are many streets artist and food carts. 

Another thing that I love it's the sushi, i could eat it every single day. I like hear music but I don’t like go to concerts only the private show in a small place or the lollapalooza. This year I went only to see Eminem and Noel Gallagher, ex leader of my favorite band Oasis.
